Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) printing is a popular and versatile way to add logos and designs to clothing. At The Colour Cartel, we know all about HTV printing (you could even say we’re experts), which involves cutting designs out of vinyl sheets and then pressing them onto fabric using heat. This method is perfect for creating vibrant, durable prints and can be used on various garments, including t-shirts, jumpers, jackets, hats, and even accessories like bags and shoes.
So, how does it work?
Once your digital logo or design is print ready, we then use a specialised vinyl cutter to extract the artwork out of the vinyl sheet. After cutting, we weed out the excess vinyl, leaving only the desired design on the carrier sheet. This step ensures that only the design will be transferred to the garment.
We then move on to heat pressing, where we carefully position the design onto the garment before applying heat and pressure. Once the artwork has bonded and adhered to the fabric we allow it to cool slightly before removing the carrier sheet. The result is a smooth and vibrant print that’s ready to wear!
So Why Choose Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) Printing?
Versatility
Just as we said above, vinyl printing is super versatile. There’s so much you can achieve with this simple technique, making it the perfect choice for unique designs or those requiring alternative finishes. It also works well on various fabrics and is great for both cotton and polyester blends. It is however slightly less breathable so may not be the best choice for some active wear styles.
Durability
Vinyl garment printing is durable and long-lasting, making it perfect for everyday wear and frequent washing. It also provides a clean and professional look, with sharp lines and crisp edges that create a polished appearance.
What We Can Achieve
Another advantage is its ability to create intricate and detailed designs. The cutting machines used in the process can accurately cut out intricate shapes, patterns, and text, allowing for precise customisation. In other words, it’s suitable for a wide range of applications, from simple logos to complex designs.
Vibrancy
HTV allows for bright, bold colours that stand out on the fabric, meaning your design or logo can really pop!
Set Up And Cost
In addition, HTV is a relatively quick and cost-effective method of customisation. Once the design is cut, the heat-pressing process is typically fast and efficient, resulting in a finished garment in a short amount of time. Vinyl material is also relatively inexpensive compared to other customisation methods, making it an affordable option for both small-scale and large-scale projects.
The Wrap Up
Heat Transfer Vinyl printing offers a versatile, durable, and vibrant solution for custom garment printing. With its ability to produce intricate and detailed designs, HTV is perfect for a variety of applications, from simple logos to complex artwork. Whether you need jackets, t-shirts, hats, or accessories, HTV provides a polished and professional look with a unique twist. Got a question?
